Huh? A JAVA Topic in Perl News? Heretic you may think. No actually not. This JSR - Java Specification Request covers the topic of creating an API to mutually access information between a scripting language and JAVA.

Perl isn't mentioned directly, but it is clear, that the need for a scripting language will not let JAVA unchanged.

AFAIK there is not only this JSR, but already active work on specification.
