I have a 1300 line script that doesn't use strict, and it is growing. (I've also reinvented three or four modules, for those who REALLY want to attack me.) I'm not sure how much easier it would have been if I had used strict, but I'm wondering why it's even an option to not use it. Is there ever a significant speed benefit in not using strict? Has there been any discussion on making the strict pragma mandatory?
I'm not going to work on converting it at this point, but I kind of wish I'd used strict from the beginning.
