I was suprised not to find something similar to this after a super search, so here's my stab at it.

$ perl -e 'not our $reason if $y; our $do or die "--Tennyson"'

(Update, 21Jul) Sigh. As LAI was nice enough to point out, that $do would make more sense as a perl do, which is the actual construct that triggered the whole idea. So, see Re: Tennyson for a better version.
