The write-ups for PerlMonks usually include code protected
in the sacred <code> </code> tags, but sometimes
one wants to quote a little code outside those nice barriers
to badness. This tiny snippet of perl will remind the
adventuresome but forgetful Monk of what the HTML entities
for the two little troublesome characters [ and ]
are.
#! /usr/bin/env perl
use strict;
print "The troublesome entities, irksome to Monks:\n "
, ( join " and ",
map{
sprintf qq{"$_" is safe as }.q{&#}.qq{%d;}, ord ;
} qw/[ ]/ )
, "\n";
__END__
=pod
Or as a one-liner:
perl -e'
print "The troublesome entities, irksome to Monks:\n "
, ( join " and ",
map{
sprintf qq{$_ is safe as }.q{&#}.qq{%d;}, ord ;
} qw([ ]) )
, "\n";
'

Posts are HTML formatted. Put <p> </p> tags around your paragraphs. Put <code> </code> tags around your code and data!
Titles consisting of a single word are discouraged, and in most cases are disallowed outright.
Read Where should I post X? if you're not absolutely sure you're posting in the right place.
Please read these before you post! —
