<groaning>

'No' to private messages to all authors of nodes parented beneath a certain node. I don't need my inbox cluttered with general "thanks for everyone's help" messages. Please don't force me to create a private message filter bot. I can just see it now: perlmonks private messaging spam filter. Uch.

If you wish to say thank you to everyone who posts a reply to your node, simply throw a "thanks to all in advance" note at the bottom of the original node. Very straight forward; besides, everyone knows that the original poster will appreciate any replies... is that not the reason why they post in the first place?

If you are smacked hard by an awesome answer that you used to come up with a super good result, a single /msg to the author of that answer is good enough. Seriously, if I post a reply to your node, but someone else posts a better reply, I don't need a /msg telling me that "hey, this other person's answer helped me the best". If I care to know the best answer, I will bookmark the node and return later to check it out (or I'll follow through from Newest Nodes).

If the above content is missing any vital points or you feel that any of the information is misleading, incorrect or irrelevant, please feel free to downvote the post. At the same time, please reply to this node or /msg me to inform me as to what is wrong with the post, so that I may update the node to the best of my ability.
