The Toronto Perl Mongers are delighted to announce that we are bidding to host YAPC::NA in 2004. As the Perl Monks contact for TPM, I wanted to pass on this announcement and provide a link to our bid on the TPM site.
How did I get to Perl Monks? I heard about this community in a Damian Conway interview in the pair Networks Insider newsletter, and after visiting a few times I made this site one of my favourite spots to hang out. I've learned a great deal, not just about Perl, but about installing modules, the OO approach, and other great stuff.
What kind of city is Toronto? It's a pretty cool city that knows how to throw a party, and it likes to show off its wide variety of neighbourhoods, cultures and events.
I'm personally pretty pumped about hosting this event. My involvement in the Perl community started with attendance at the second YAPC four years ago, where I got to see and even meet a few of the amazing and unusual folks in the Perl community. I've attended each YAPC since then (except for Boca Raton :( -- too far to go). Hosting YAPC is our way of trying to give back to the Perl Community.
So please check out the bid, and if you have any questions I'll do my best to answer them. Thanks!
