I use jeffa's script Personal Nodelet Extractor and $code or die's companion Personal Nodelet Restorer scripts to manage my PN. Works pretty well. You can just use your favorite editor on it then, although you have to manually delete all your entries before importing. Mine's pretty big, so I like to keep it at least vaguely organized.
