Intel

I've been saying for a while that the PC industry may be in trouble because an 800Mhz machine was 'good enough' for almost anything you'd want to do. However, I've been changing my mind on that.

I have some very old email accounts(10+ years) that have simply become spam magnets. To my great relief and joy I discovered SpamAssassin(I am disapointed though by the fact that it does leave the bastards alive though). It has proven effective, but as I've started to get more and more into trying to configure and tune it, and the afforementioned bastards resort to more and more tricks to thwart such filters, SA seems to need more and more CPU cycles to do the same job.

At one point I had thought, "once we had full motion video on our PC's the average user is not going to need a faster CPU."

However, now it seems we're going to need faster and faster CPU's to keep up with the spam.
