Simon Cozens has written a gentle introduction to DBI that is tailored for beginners.

It's a good place to get started. It is worth bookmarking, to address newcomers when they ask how to program databases in Perl.

Perhaps a link to it from our Tutorials wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Personally, I believe that Reading from a database is more complete, but Cozen's text has a nice entertaining tone that can captivate the reader's attention.
