You don't say anything about what *kind* of network drive? Or even what kind of network?
In an ideal world you can mount shared directories and use them as you would a local fs...
It sounds like you probably can't do this so you might need to switch to treating the network as such and opening a connection to the remote fs.
Anyway, more information will help I'm sure.
