Unfixing archived message suppression is trivial, but the patch list for the msg XML ticker shows tye specifically removed archived messages from the ticker. (If you're not a member of the right groups these links will probably only produce a "permission denied".) I guess we'll have to wait for him to explain the reasoning.

Makeshifts last the longest.
