A book that has not been mentioned that I found usefull when learning Perl was 'CGI programming on the world wide web'. I recommend this and the 'Programming Perl' to get a good grounding in the basics. And there are loads of websites with tutorials and faqs to help with problems that most beginners get stuck with.
