I have to process a very large file (multi-GB) and want to replace certain tags with linefeed (\n) and tabs (\t). The file does not contain linefeeds, yet. Problem is, I get an out of memory error with:
cat file | perl -pe "s/RowwoR/\n/g" > file2
sed also gives me out of memory.
My machine has 2GB and is running perl 5.6. Any ideas?
Any feedback highly appreciated!
Martin
