I just read that this node is just 3 negative votes short of worst nodes of all time, so I wanted to read it. I haven't read through all the replies, but my opinion is that the offensive signature should be removed. But it might be even worse than the signature that the complainant got so many --.
As for reaping the node (and why can't everyone just say deleting the post?), there should be a section for general discussion, or maybe get rid of meditations (yes, I know it's so appropriate for a "monk" message board, but deal with it) and add something like "Other Perl related discussion." Not that the complaint was Perl related, but it's still a good idea.
Wait... now I remember there is a PerlMonks Discussion area. I think that's an appropriate place for this discussion. The original complaint should have been moved there. Am I there now? It doesn't say. Which raises the question, make it say!
And I still hate that I have to use paragraph tags in these posts. PerlMonks should have gone with vBulletin or something.
And don't forget to downvote me. I'm almost at the Monk level. We can't let THAT happen!
