However, you are wrong. You can excersize your right to free speech without swearing, therefore swearing is not protected.

Since when was this an argument for something to be protected? I can live very well without any religion, yet the laws in my country protect my right to believe in whatever religion I want.

I can also live without criticising my government, but thank God, that right is protected over here aswell.

if you truly value the American ideal of freedom, then you will cease your behavior out of respect for others.

I don't value the American ideal of freedom a single bit, I value freedom which is far from American freedom as we know it now.

After all, think how far this could be carried: you think you can tell me to f*ck off? Fine, does that mean I can call you a nigger? How about a flame-broiled Jew?

This really amazed me. You seem to find the word fuck so abusive and/or annoying that you filter it to "f*ck", yet you don't seem to find the word "nigger" abusive enough to filter that one. Shocking.

Even if I swear like a sailor among friends, I don't do it in the grocery store. I have no right to do that, and it is disrespectful.

You don't have the right to rob the store, yet you can swear all you want. It might not be polite, but at least in The Netherlands, there are no laws to my knowledge that prohibit the use of "foul" language in stores.
