Robed Fonts of Perl Wisdom,

First I need to set the stage, the value of the variable going in is:

$a = "A'Bcd"

How do I determine that the variable contains a ' in the value and then how would I change the value in the variable to

$a = "A\'\'Bcd"

using regular expression. Thank you for the education.
