Do you have a real debugger (like one that comes with microsoft visual studio)? Try compiling perl with debugging on, and then fireing up the debugger when you get the memory access violation error (usually happens when you hit "Cancel to start the debugger"). That should tell you exactly where the error is occuring, so you can backtrack from there.
