Tried:


while (<DPSLOTFILE>) {
    my ($slot) = /$dpdrivloc:\s*(\d+)/;
    print "$slot";
}

and there was no output....  Part of me was thingking it 
might be an issue with an ASCII file.  I tried opening the 
file using:


binmode (STDOUT);

[download]

and no difference...
