It occurred to me that although both Net::FTP and LWP both use TCP/IP, they dont share a command TCP/IP library.

To me, this is a case of two great Perl programmers each making use of their own wheels, when they could have shared one.

Can anyone think of other places where Perl functionality is repeated instead of re-used? This could be an important factor in reducing the memory usage of Perl binaries.
