Hi,
I am adapting an administration script that previously ran on one machine (Win NT - sorry) - to something that will run on several machines. Different services will be handled by different machines, but all by one frontend script.
I was planning on running a perl script as a service on each machine and have them read logfiles every few minutes to see if there is any configuration that needs changing on that machine.
Then I got to thinking that I could use named pipes (
Win32::Pipe) and set up the services on each machine to have their own pipe. Then the main front-end script could communicate with perl processes on each server easily.
Am I wasting my time with this method? (I am certain that I would be wasting my time with my original idea). And I like the idea of playing around with the pipe module anyway, but what does everyone think?
Thanks!
