When my script ends, I'd like to kick off another script. I now do something like this:
END {
exec $^X, 'scriptname.pl', @args;
}
but as
exec simply abandons the running script, without calling any (remaining) END blocks, or calling DESTROY on any live objects, I don't think it's ideal.
Why is it so? Why doesn't perl first do the cleanup, all of it, and then call the external program?
But anyway, things being the way they are, is there a cleaner solution? Perhaps a module?
Update: Limbic~Region made a nice recap of my question: "What you are looking for is a delayed exec - what's the absolute last thing executed and is there a way to embed my exec there". Well put. Exactly.
