I have a stray "p" at the bottom of my document. Yet, for some reason, Perl did not flag this as an error, either a run-time or compile-time:

    $x = (stat('preproc2.pl'))[9];
    $t = (localtime($x))[3];
    print $t,$/;

    sleep 5;
    redo if $count++ < 1;
}
p

The "p" that you see after the braces is really there and it really runs as if it is not there.
