reyjrar, I know exactly what you mean. I started coming here in June of this year and my knowledge of Perl was pitiful, to be honest. While I still feel like "Saint Ovid, the Pretender", I have to admit that my Perl skill has increased
tremendously as a direct result of this site. When I have the time and I see a question that I can almost answer, I grab the Cookbook, Programming Perl, or just write out some test scripts to figure out what's going on. Then I post the results and discover that I've learned something new.
Now, I have a new job doing CGI/Perl exclusively, I'm writing an online Web Programming with Perl course, my posture has improved and I have a girlfriend... all thanks to Perlmonks! ;)
Cheers,
Ovid
Update: We're proud of you too, vroom. What you've done with this site is incredible. Thank you!
