Because I heard it was good and if I only learn one database, I want it to be one that I could do anything with
That basically is the same reason why I want to use PG (instead of MySQL) as well whereever possible.
But when I did some reading about it, it became pretty obvious to me that installing it under Win could be a lot of pain. And as my primary intention is to learn about DB's, I decided to install it on a properly supported platform. In my case that was Linux (Debian) on which an "apt-get install postgresql" basically was all it took.
And if you don't want to use Linux for all parts of your learning, just make it accessible from your win client. That's what I meant with the "problem at your end" - don't lose focus ;-)
