It has been 1 year to the day that I first stumbled through
The Monastery Gates here. I had been programming for quite sometime (years) but in Perl for only a few. Plus, all I had learned was self-taught. I came with many bad habits, and mis-conceptions. And though I had written many useful and powerful perl scripts it was with much agony and wasted time. After resting here and hearing the meditations, and getting involved in the community, I am now recovering nicely. Having learned much through the
strictures and
warnings, I felt it would be good to reflect on all I've gleaned in these hallowed halls.
And to thank all of you for your help as well as sparking much thought and meditation on so many subjects.
I began compiling a list of those monks who were particually helpful to me, but I quickly realized that it is the community of monks here that is most valuable. Also I realized that I could never list accurately each of the individuals.
And if I've been of any assistance to anyone here, may I say it has been my pleasure. I look forward to another great year here at The PerlMonks Monastery
Thank you all!
