Hmm, I'm not sure you got all there is to it. Thanks for the clearing link, that'll be useful. I'll try to explain better:
Suppose this on your term:

A context line
Prompt: []

[download]
Now you type something:

A context line
Prompt: Here is what I just typed[]

[download]
I want to press enter and get:

A context line
Prompt: []

[download]
Instead of:

A context line
Prompt: Here is what I just typed
Prompt: []

[download]
There.. I hope this makes the whole problem visible.
