If I were ahamed of it, I wouldn't be spending as much time around here defending my ways. I want to make as much money as possible from it by protecting the source. The most profitable software is closed source and copy protected. I'm following the model that works. In my case, I'd get the additional benefit of people who don't like my style not being able to criticize it. I never needed or asked for it, and it could hurt me financially even though I'm not ashamed of it.
