The database that you chose to use for your....database, should be something that you are familiar with. We could get into the in's and out's of database implementations, but lets agree that you don't want to use a flat file on your local filesystem, and that chosing a full blown database system is your best bet.

You should go to the DBI website to see what database implementations it supports, and then chose from there. good luck.
