Since you do have a DBA, here's what you want to do:
You now have DBD::Oracle installed on a box that doesn't have Oracle on it. I've already told you to do this. Where is the confusion?

Expressing a contrary opinion, whether to the individual or the group, is more often a sign of deeper thought than of cantankerous belligerence.
