Hi All,

Here is the setup:
I have a film that has a single registration point in seven different regions of interest. I am able to do some edge finding and filtering to limit the points found in the regions to somewhere between 1~10 (each represented with unique x and y values). I have a template with the exact point position for a perfectly aligned film.

The Goal:
I need to select the points with in the regions that closest match the template, with the knowlede that the region may not contain any valid points.

Here is a rough layout of film/points:

------------------------------------------- | | | * | | | | * | | * | | | | | | * | | * | | | | * * | | | | | -------------------------------------------

I know that I can do some brute force distance measurements, but I am trying to keep it somewhat optimized because I may need to check many of these in a short period of time.

Any Suggestion?

I look forward to reading all the different insights that are offered, and thanks all in advance.
