Quite true, although IMO very short sighted. After seeing the rise and fall of the internet boom in NYC, I have little faith in the idea that highly guarded proprietary ideas are as valuable as the business/marketing world would like to think they are. My feeling was always that when it came to computers/consulting/etc the value was in the service provided, which had more to do with the talent and brains of your people/employees then the secrecy of a hunk of code.
But then again, my big mouth had tended to get me in trouble in situations like yours too, so my advice maybe isn't the best ;-)
