It was inspired by some contemplations that are sort of tangential to that thread of discussion, but it's really something that has been lurking in the back of my brain for a long time. Besides, I really give nay damn about my XP total, and figure that as long as there are high rep values on some posts in the thread there'll be interest in the thread as a whole, which means more people are likely to read and think. Reading and thinking are good things that I like to foster. Whether or not I'm "popular" for my efforts doesn't much come into the equation. Fear not for my dainty widdle feelings.
In point of fact, I expect people to disagree with me violently and at length almost any time I open my virtual mouth in Internet public. I have very strong opinions, and have an aggravating tendency to be difficult to logically argue against. That combination of traits generates a lot of emotional reaction, especially when ego-identification with cherished views comes into the picture. C'est la vie. As long as I don't get censored, I don't mind too much.
I am, however, a little mystified that there isn't a more universal recognition of faulty logic evident in a programming community. Maybe I'm just really lucky in this case.
