It doesn't work for me. 
$ perl rabbit.pl
Use of uninitialized value in numeric lt (<) at ./rabbit.pl line 7.

$ perl -v
This is perl, v5.8.5 built for cygwin-thread-multi-64int

Update: I guess it helps if you supply it a command line argument - Sorry. To avoid this I would adjust the ASCII with the following change: 
fib($ARGV[0])
to
fib($ARGV[0]||42)
