The police want you to drive slower and have less accidents. If knowing where the spped traps aer makes you drive slower there, then they are happy with it. This isn't a new project, and many police representatives have been interviewed about it.

The effect is to make people obey the law when they wouldn't, not make them break the law. There is nothing to feel slimey about.
