May god help the vicitims and I pray for the same.

I have heard that Microsoft or similar companies ask questions in interview: How to move Mount Fuji. In the relation with recent event "Tusnami in Indian Ocean", they should ask, "how you can manage the project to help the vicitims". It can help to assess the sense of reality of the candidate.

Update: 12/29: (after Caron's Answer): My view point was from engineering perspective rather than diplomatic. It could use focus on specific issues.
