Is perldoc a UNIX thing? I'm happily UNIX free!
Am not quite sure what 'dup' means - assume it means 'duplicate', which is interesting, as open (STDERR, ">&STDOUT"); redirects errors to STDOUT, rather than duplicating the errors to both filehandles, as I'd have expected... I'm probably missing something, though! (my epitaph)
