I don't know if it's implemented yet, but you should be able to make that last line: 
    say@l[$i...];

Combining with the previous line gets you 
    say@l[(@l>9??@l-10::0)...];

I took the liberty of changing your 10 to a 9. The final semicolon should not be required eventually either.
