I figured out that the command gcc is not working and hence changed the "Makefile" in the line from "CC = gcc" to "CC = cc". Now, I encountered the error which says that the options are available only with the C/ANSI C product.So why don't you change the options? perl -V:cc tells you the name of the compiler your perl was compiled with. perl -V:ccflags tells you what options will be passed. See `perldoc ExtUtils::MakeMaker' for more.
What you should really do is either recompile perl with cc, or install gcc.
