Hash:

• Sparse contents - i.e. indices of 1, 100, 3000 etc, an array would necessarily also create all the indices between, a hash doesnt.
• Indices that arent just numbers, any string can be used as a hash index.
• Uniqueness of items. Yes, array indices are also unique, a hash can be used, for example, to filter unique items from a list of strings.

Array:

• Ordered lists: Hashes arent guaranteed to return their contents in any particular order, arrays are used in ascending order of indices.
• Uses less space than a hash (I think)
