Not so much an answer to the question but a comment on your sig. Since you appear to be talking to animals on your journey, you may wish to ask the camel to introduce you to the llama. The llama himself is a good teacher (even if his owner can be grouchy at times!) and will start you on the path to Perl enlightenment.
