No. I wasn't joking. I was taking a light-hearted approach instead of being ponderous and weighty.

You responded to a slightly (and only just barely) sarcastic response that did offer a constructive observation. In that response, you introduced the term "JERKS", taking the discourse toward the path that is often called "flame war". You did note that you had tried the suggested change already without useful effect, but you had not shared that before.

Your testy response drew an anonymous one that raised the heat level a bit.

You got all snotty and snippy over that. The pattern is a classic one in usenet circles. Someone gets a bit peevish, gets poked by someone else, and keeps turning the flame factor up. It's a sorry spectacle to watch, and if you didn't mean to get into the war of escalation, you can get real toasty real fast. If you meant to jump into a flame fest, you are on your own. My warning was meant to give you an easy way to save face by ratcheting back your rhetoric and staying on topic.

If you take this counsel to be some sort of "I'm better than you" riff, you are quite mistaken. If you can't take critical feedback, then, perhaps you do need to rethink participating here. People don't normally get jumped on with golf spikes unless they ask for it. Your behavior was heading that way.

Your reply to me certainly showed that you didn't yet get it. I hope this longer explanation helps you understand what I am trying to get across. I don't yet have reason to simply discard and ignore your contributions. As I said before, it's still in your hands.
