And relying heavily on an unmaintained module seems rather scary.Why? Does it do what you need it to do in a manner that is acceptable to you? To me, modules that are constantly changing are more scary...what if an interface changes, or a bug is introduced. At least with static code, you know exactly what you've got. No "the code worked yesterday" headaches.
