My current workaround is to hold down the control button when following the link "Reply". This way, a new browser window/tab is opened, and I can flip back and forth between my reply and the original node. Admittedly it's not the most obvious solution, but it's Good Enough™ for me.
But otherwise I do agree, such a link would be nice and shouldn't cost a lot.
