I get 0 on both, 

$ uname -a

$ perl -v

This is perl, v5.8.4 built for i686-linux

[download]
and

$ perl -v

This is perl, v5.9.2 built for i686-linux-thread-multi-64int-ld

[download]
on the same machine.

The kernel and both perls were built from source.
