hi,

i have a signup form for my website which includes about 14 input fields. the signup script has the coding where it validates the form, and inserts into a mysql database.

i was reading about tainting and form checking, and i was just wondering if form checking is enough security for my signup script. i don't see any reasons to taint each input field variables?

i feel that my form checking is good enough--for example, a zip code field only contains digits and up to 5 digits, my name field only allows alphabetical charcers, ', ., -, and a space.

I would not be using any of these input variables from the signup for anything else but inserting it inside a mysql db. I'm also using placeholders with DBI.

So do I need even need taint checking?

Thanks
