I got "0" using 3 different perl's:

This is perl, v5.8.0 built for i386-linux-thread-multi
This is perl, v5.8.6 built for i686-linux
This is perl, v5.8.0 built for sun4-solaris

The first 2 perl's are running on a dual-cpu Redhat-8 Linux machine, the last is running on a Sun-Solaris machine.
