I didn't really understand OO until i learned Perl's way of handling OO. I wouldn't jump ship to Python merely for OO, because quite frankly i think Ruby is far better than Python when it comes to clean OO design. But who says you can't stick with Perl and study Design Patterns? In fact, if those folks who suggest something other than Perl have not read that book, i wouldn't even listen to them. :)
