I hate to say it but python seems to be 'winning'. My palm pilot which I am never far from runs python. New cell phones run python. Google uses python a lot, and they have many more really smart people than most web companies. Perl's there is more than one way to do it is good for many things, but for some packages like wx it is nice if most everyone does things the same way. I think python is easier to do guis because there is less ways to do it. Of course context sensitive white space is insane, reminds me of BASIC.
