I hope PPI will have become a favorite module of mine in six months.

Also, hopefully I've written something using Catalyst and ended up pleased with the result.

A contender in the small-utility-module category is IO::String which saves the day when dealing with modules which have a scalar-challenged interface and only accepts file handles for input/output.
