Code samples are good things, as are "How would you solve this?" type questions. Remember - the first answer should always be "Check CPAN". If it's not, pass.
My criteria for good software:
  1. Does it work?
  2. Can someone else come in, make a change, and be reasonably certain no bugs were introduced?
